        来自EMBT公司的两位设计师Enric Miralles和Benedetta Tabliabue主导设计了这个2015年米兰世博会意大利馆的概念——“生活之树”。这片场地和这座场馆是意大利文化的鲜明代表;它的景观理念也完全来自意大利随处具有的乡村气质,而它的室内则拥有一座不断变化的展览来体现意大利多元生活的精粹。树和圆屋顶是这座展馆最重要的两种符号,它们代表了这个国家对世界最具意义的贡献。

        从万神殿到布鲁内莱斯基再到内尔维,圆屋顶几乎是意大利历史演变的见证者。而这些富有理想的景观则从山川到海滩都受到了极大的认可。二者富有诗意地整合为一套结构网络,转化为一种抽象的根系,而室内圆屋顶显得单薄,似乎像是要冲破展馆外壳而在更自由广泛的空间绽放的树枝——这是一种生命的完美象征。

        Catalonian and Italian architects Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue of EMBT take the position of runner up for their 'tree of life' pavilion concept for the 2015 Milano world expo. The site and pavilion building are in themselves representations of the Italian culture; the landscaping is made from stitched images of real Italian country sides from all over the country, and the interior is designed to display a constantly changing exhibit that highlights the various details of Italian life. The tree and the dome become the two most important symbols in the pavilion, both exemplifying two of the country's most significant contributions to the world.

        From the pantheon to Brunelleschi to Nervi, the dome almost seems to document an evolution throughout Italian history, while the idealic landscapes that vary from the mountains to the beaches are amongst some of the most widely recognized. Both are poetically integrated as a network of structural members that make up an abstracted root system shape the large interior cupola whose structural members thin out as they grow out of the pavilion's envelope and again blossom into open-air branches creating a powerful visual symbol.

        The reticulated construction creates the ideal environment in which to display plants and trees within the large central space. The construction is designed with its dismantle in mind, where easily-transportable pieces can be re-assembled for other uses anywhere in the country, leaving behind the multi-functional dome in milan. The idea of a kaleidoscope also comes into play as an object of beauty that constantly changes. the swiveling exterior geometric tiles create this same effect, with the interior dome representing the inside of a kaleidoscope, lit by one source at the opposite end from the viewer and metaphorically depicts italy as a constantly changing and evolving state.
